So why would you want to replace your boiler?
Gas central heating boilers are split into three types, combi, regular and system.
A combi boiler will power your central heating radiators and provide hot water on demand, much like an instant electric shower. There is no need for a hot water tank with a combi boiler. A combi boiler is suitable for flats or where space for a tank is limited and when you want hot water on demand. Combi boilers are the most commonly fitted boilers.
A regular boiler and a system boiler both heat your radiators and a separate hot water tank or cylinder. A system boiler has a built in pump for the radiators where a regular boiler uses a separate pump. Both regular and system boilers are suitable for larger houses with several bathrooms and showers where there is more demand for hot water or when used in conjunction with solar water heating.
Condensing boilers extract latent heat from the exhaust gases through the use of a condensate and heat exchanger. Condensing boilers are more efficient and regulations from 2005 state that replacement boilers must be condensing boilers with a few rare exceptions.
Barclay Erskine can supply the full Worcester Bosch, SEDBUK band A rated, GreenStar gas central heating boiler range. This includes combi, system and regular boiler options which can be wall-mounted or floor standing. The Greenstar regular and system boilers are suitable for use with Worcester Bosch's Greenskies solar panels for solar water heating.

Worcester Bosch employ over 30 engineers in Scotland to provide this service, so if you boiler breaks down you should have an engineer on site the next day. The only stipulation is that the boiler must be serviced annually, which Barclay Erskine can provide for a fixed price of £75.
These days most homes and flats already have central heating installed, however if your boiler is more than 10 years old it is likely to be much less efficient than today's modern boilers, in fact for every £1.00 you spend only £0.65 would actually give you usable heat the rest is wasted, compared to today's SEDBUK band A (Seasonal Efficiency of a Domestic Boiler in the UK) efficiency rated boilers where £0.90 would give usable heat, and with the unrelenting upward trend in energy prices replacing your old boiler will save you ever more money.
